How It All Began
In 2018, the company I was working for made my department redundant. They gave us a generous farewell package, and instead of settling into another desk job, I packed up my life with one goal: become a Scuba Instructor, travel the world, and make money doing it. I didn’t set an end date, and eight years later, I’m still on the road and have no intention of stopping.
Diving Changed My Life
I didn’t start diving until I was 25, but once I did, I was hooked. Over the last ten years, I’ve dived on every continent except Antarctica (though I came very close a few years ago). Diving gave me freedom, adventure, and a lifestyle most people only dream of.
Along the way, I’ve made brilliant choices, some questionable decisions, and a few mistakes that taught me lessons I’d never forget. I’ve traveled extensively with the money I earned from diving, including an unforgettable eight-month trip across the Americas, and I want to share what I’ve learned along the way. That’s what inspired me to start Gito’s Guide.
Honest Travel & Dive Advice
This isn’t a generic travel blog. I write about the places I’ve dived and the destinations I’ve explored, with honest advice about where to stay, how to get around, and what’s actually worth your time.
If something is overrated, I’ll say it. If a dive destination has declined over the years, you’ll hear it from me before you book. My goal isn’t to tell people what they want to hear – it’s to help them have better experiences, avoid common mistakes, and make the most of their trips.
Lessons From the Scuba Industry
For anyone thinking about a career in diving, I share real-world insights from my time as an instructor. You’ll find tips on what it takes to succeed, common pitfalls to avoid, and what day-to-day life is really like. Whether you’re dreaming of becoming a professional diver or just curious about the lifestyle, you’ll find practical advice grounded in firsthand experience.
Why Gito’s Guide Exists
Gito’s Guide exists to give honest, personal perspectives on travel and diving. No fluff, no hype, just real experiences from someone who’s lived them.
If you’re planning a trip, considering diving professionally, or just curious about exploring the world one dive at a time, welcome – you’re in the right place.
